Day 30: Ahh, the Weekend

Gigi and Danielle came to visit. Danielle got to feed Caleb a bottle for the first time. He usually takes his bottle like a champ then insists on the "real deal," as if to say, "That appetizer was just fine, now I'm ready for the main course." If I'm being completely honest I have to admit, I am thrilled that he takes to the bottle so well but equally (okay maybe even more) thrilled that he still really wants Mama. The bottle just doesn't quite have the same droopy, then eye-closing magic for some reason.

Day 27: Daddy's First Day Back to Work

After 3 1/2 weeks off, Chris had to go back to work. I had been dreading it for a week. I was so thankful that he had as long off as he did. He is such a big help! Chris works 24 hour shifts as a firefighter so I knew it would be a long day! Gigi came by for a few hours after work to visit. The day went much better than I had anticipated. I felt like I'd really accomplished something after making it through that whole day! Chris was so happy to come home the next morning and kissed Caleb's sweet head. We both missed him!

Caleb was very interested in his cow mobile tonight! We loved watching him watching the cows go 'round and 'round and listening to the music. He already seems very interested in movement!

Chris gave Caleb his first bottle today. He seemed confused at first but took it pretty well once he realized it 's the same stuff Mama gives him. ;)

Day 21: Another Weigh-In at the Doctor's Office

These pictures were taken on the way to the doctor's office. My big boy is now 8 lbs. 12.5 oz! The nurse said that I must be making ice cream. The doctor was impressed that Caleb had only had breast milk and already gained so much. The reassurance was great! I can't believe how much Caleb is growing already!

Day 19: Visiting with Christina and Gracie

We went to visit Christina and Gracie today and had a great time! We picked up our disk from our photo session with Christina too. There are so many great pictures, it's going go be hard to decide which ones to order!

Days 16 and 17: Meeting Great Grandparents
September 11-12, 2010
I was lucky enough to remember 3 great-grandmothers, all of which have since passed away. I am so glad that Caleb will have great-grandparents too! This weekend, Caleb met his Great Nana and Papa and Great Uncle Paul. They were all soooo excited to meet him and thought he was just perfect! I love the pictures of when they first laid eyes on Caleb. You just can't beat natural, un-posed smiles.

Dear Chris,
While I was pregnant, someone told me that if I thought I loved you, that when Caleb was born it would be 100 times that. They were right about the instant feeling of complete and unconditional love I felt take over me for Caleb from that very first moment. They also said that they thought they realized they didn't love their husband once their child was born because they didn't feel for their husband the same way they felt for their child. We both laughed about it.
I feel very lucky though. Seeing you holding Caleb, made me love you that much more. The way you hold him, rock him, talk to him, smile at him, kiss him....it all melts my heart. I always knew you would be an amazing Daddy, and you have met and passed my expectations, but seeing you in action is far more overwhelming then I knew it would be. I am blessed. I have a wonderful husband and son. I am so thankful that after Caleb was born, my feelings for you multiplied even more (not that I doubted those feelings in the first place). I know that there were times when we weren't sure we'd even be parents. And now we are. Right in the moments that we will cherish for always. I'm so glad that YOU are the one that has been by my side through it all.
